Nick Jonas, Chamillionaire To Appear At Fort Hood Event

December 8, 2009

On December 11, a month after Army Major Nidal Hassan allegedly opened fire on fellow soldiers at a Texas military base, killing 13, the Fort Hood community will come together for a spirit-lifting event that will feature an appearance by Nick Jonas and a performance from Houston rapper Chamillionaire.

The free event, called Fort Hood Community Strong, will take place at Hood Stadium. It is described as a day of “healing, fun and entertainment” aimed at bringing some joy to the more than 349,000 military personnel, family members, retirees and civilian employees who live on the massive base and were impacted by the November 5 shooting.

In addition to a meet-and-greet with military troops and families by Jonas, the day will feature a set from Chamillionaire, an acoustic set from Staind singer Aaron Lewis, a performance from the Zac Brown Band, and appearances by comedian Dana Carvey, actor Gary Sinise, the Houston Texans cheerleaders, Bonzo Crunch the clown, NHRA Army car driver Tony Schumacher and legendary sock puppet Lamb Chop.

Army psychiatrist Hassan, 39, allegedly opened fire on his fellow soldiers last month, killing 13 and wounding at least 30 before being shot four times by a pair of civilian police officers. Hassan, who was paralyzed from the chest down in the shooting, has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. Attorneys for Hassan have said they Army plans to evaluate the psychiatrist to test his competency to stand trial and his mental state at the time of the shootings.

Nick Jonas “When I Was 14…”

December 8, 2009

Published Tuesday, December 8, 2009 10:58 AM ET

Yesterday we got an exclusive sneak listen of Nick Jonas & The Administration’s new album Who I Am in NYC and Nick was there in person to tell us about the tunes! Talk about a tough day at the office! 😉

Nick spilled lots of album secrets which we’ll reveal in an upcoming issue of J-14, so keep your eyes peeled!

And of course, just like we asked his friends Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, we had to ask him his favorite memory from when he was 14! (Psst! The jacket he’s wearing in the video is the same jacket he wore in the “Who I Am” video that he shot last week!)

What do you download on iTunes? Have you downloaded “Who I Am” yet?

New Teen Comedy ‘Pictures Of You’ Has Us Casting Nick Jonas, Emily Osment And More In Lead Roles

December 7, 2009

With a plot seemingly ripped from a lost Nicholas Sparks novel, the long-languishing teen comedy script “Pictures of You” is finally set for production.

According to Variety, the film is “set in a Florida resort town [and] centers on a teenage boy who finds a lost camera on the beach. After developing the film, he ends up on a quest to find the girl of his dreams, whose picture was discovered inside the camera.”

Sounds a bit like “Message in a Bottle” meets “Letters to Juliet,” right? We also thought it sounded like a perfect opportunity to take a seat on the Hollywood Crush Casting Couch to select the film’s star-crossed lover leads. Producers, we hope you’re listening!

Lucy Hale

Ever since the early demise of the frothy CW series “Privileged,” there’s been a Lucy-sized hole in our entertainment diet. Though she’s rumored to be starring in the series “Pretty Little Liars,” we want to see more of the plucky brunette on the big screen. Like, now.

Emily Osment

As Miley Cyrus’ long-suffering BFF Lilly Truscott on the Disney series “Hannah Montana,” Emily’s had plenty of experience playing second banana. We’re ready to see the cheery blonde blossom into the leading lady we know she can be. Besides, why should Miley be the only one to kiss pretty boys in the name of cinema?!?

Hunter Parrish

He’s perfected the bad boy persona playing Mary-Louise Parker’s pot-dealing son Silas on the Showtime series “Weeds” and Michelle Trachtenberg’s smarmy boyfriend Stan on the movie “17 Again,” so it seems about time Hunter take on a more romantic role. With his golden looks and undeniable charisma, we could watch Hunter fall in love all day long.

Nick Jonas

He may be kind of busy with the Jonas Brothers and his solo project Nick Jonas and the Administration, but we think if the right script were to come along, Nick could take a break for some movie making. Besides, he’s watched older brother Joe foster an onscreen love connection on “Camp Rock,” so we think the younger Jonas deserves a little lovin’ too.

David Ryan Harris Talks Nick Jonas and The Administration

December 5, 2009

“I know the photo looks like a surveillance tape from a studio break in where the subject is receiving instructions in his headphones, but wait…….

Mid March of this year, I get a call from my friend John Fields asking me if I wanted to go to Nashville and play on a Nick Jonas record he was going to be working on in April.

Michael Bland? Tommy Barbarella? John Fields? Nick Jonas?

No doubt. I’m waaaaay down like a St. Louis Rams fan.

At that point, I had no idea how great the material would turn out to be and how much I would come to respect both the poise and songwriting of “the youngest Jonas”.

I had an amazing time playing, hanging, and getting to know everyone involved. I think the songs are great and I got to play a boatload of guitar solos all over the record. Plus, I was allowed (encouraged?) to do my Sly Stone vocal “approximation” on “Stronger”. All around…..a great way to spend my birthday (check the photo date)

Though I won’t be joining the guys on the road for the touring they’ll do over the next year or so, (Sonny T will be on guitar for the tour) I am as proud of my contribution to the record, and the record as a whole as I have ever been with anything I’ve ever done. Prepare to rethink.”
