You can totally stay up late on December 31st to ring in the New Year right with some of Young Hollywood. It’s Disney Channels New Years Eve Star Showdown.

Fans have already been busy voting for their favorite shows via DisneyChannel.com, and these votes will ultimately determine the episode lineup for the last day of 2009. The winning programs will be broadcast on December 31st from 6pm to 12:30am eastern time and its all wrapped up as the New Years Star Showdown.

Some other young celebs slated to participate in the New Years Eve Star Showdown include David Henrie, Brandon Smith, Debby Ryan, Allisyn Arm, Jennifer Stone and maybe even the Sprouse brothers. Weve heard whispers of Demi Lovato and Sterling Knight as well as watched Selena Gomez and Chelsea Staub promote the special holiday night. And we cant forget about Radio Disneys Ernie D and Jake – they’ll definitely be there.

You’re used to seeing Selena Gomez play with magic as Alex Russo on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. But now it’s Cupid’s turn to cast the spells.

“We are on season three right now, so we have a lot more magic,” Selena tells TV Guide about what’s coming up next for the hit series. “My character, Alex, has a lot of growing to do and she falls in love for the first time.”

Alex’s new guy will be played by actor Gregg Sulkin. You should know this about him: he’s originally from London, he plays Mason in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, he’s really cute, and here’s the biggie — there were rumors a while back that Miley Cyrus cheated on Justin Gaston with this guy.

Since Miley and Selena have the same taste in guys – ahem, Nick Jonas – could Selena’s new on-screen love turn into her next boyfriend? If that’s the case, he better be really into music, especially Selena Gomez and the Scene.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez New Years Performance

Selena Gomez and the Scene and Justin Bieber will be two of the acts performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010. Black Eyed Peas, Colbie Cailat, and Orianthi are also performing.

The show will air at 10pm et on ABC on December 31. As usual, the show will take place in two cities, Las Vegas and New York City.

Kellan Lutz, are you finally going to take a leading role? Author Jessica Bendinger is adapting her book The Seven Rays into a movie — which some expect will be the hottest thing since Twilight — and she wants YOU to be the leading man. Move over Robert Pattinson!

The Seven Rays — about a girl named Beth Michaels who discovers she has supernatural and psychic powers (yes, the girl gets the cool powers this time!) — just came out in novel form, but movie chatter has already started. Selena Gomez is in talks to play the lead role, and on the Today show this morning, Dec. 3, Jessica said, “Kellan Lutz has expressed interest in staring as the lead.”

Kellan, who famously turned down the role of Edward in New Moon, told us at the premiere of New Moon he would be happy to take a leading role when the time was right … and maybe now it is!

The leading male role is as Richie Mac “the hottest boy in town” who becomes obsessed with Beth. Kellan, you sound perfect!

Not to mention, the author is already completely obsessed with him! She wrote on her blog, “Kellan was a total pro and a pleasure to work with [on the movie Stick It], and I would work with him again in a heartbeat. When my book was in galley form, I asked Kellan if he’d be willing to read it. Not only did he respond immediately, but he read the book immediately, too. When he was finished, I received an email: ‘I love your book!’ It made my day. I was on cloud nine.”
